THIS WEEK IN 1ST GRADE
Mrs. Maxey shared this week’s classroom schedule updates, EA support information, reminders, learning goals, and upcoming September dates.
CLASSROOM UPDATE
Starting this week, 1st Grade will begin splitting with 2nd Grade for Social Studies and Science, in addition to the existing PE and Spanish splits.
Mrs. Maxey also addressed questions about Educational Assistant (EA) support. While Kindergarten is the only grade with a full-time dedicated EA, 1st Grade has support from various EAs throughout almost the entire school day.
REMINDERS
- Homework & Reading Logs go home Tuesday and are due Friday.
- Water bottles go home Fridays to be washed.
LEARNING THIS WEEK
Math: Individual assessments; numbers 1–20.
ELA Skills: Individual assessments; blending sounds (phonemes) to produce single-syllable words, including consonant blends.
ELA Knowledge: Moral of the Story — fables and tales.

BACK TO SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
Mrs. Maxey welcomed 1st Grade families and shared the first reminders for a smooth start to the school year.
CLASSROOM REMINDERS
- First day: September 1 with noon dismissal.
- Students should bring a labeled water bottle. Water bottles go home each Friday to be washed.
- Please label sweaters and vests with your student’s name.
- No stuffed animals, fidgets, or toys are allowed in the classroom.
- Mrs. Maxey has some volunteer-hour opportunities that can be completed at home.
- Parents are welcome to attend Friday Mass and sit with their student.
